The Cold War :: Cold War History Historical Essays
The Cold War The conflict in ideologies between capitalism and communism resulted in one of the greatest conflicts of the twentieth century. The belief that freedom and democracy would die under communist rule caused the United States to start a conflict that would last for decades. The decisions made by the United States in W.W.II caused tensions to rise between the U. S. and the Soviet Union. Fear of Communism in capitalist nations, caused the United states government to use propaganda to raise Cold War anxieties. Furthermore, the American media influenced the attitudes of Americans, making a hatred of communism spread though the nation. Thus, the United States caused the conflict known as the Cold War, through its political policy and propaganda. The political relations going on in Europe during and directly after World War II had an enormous effect on laying the foundation for the Cold War. War time conferences such as Yalta and Terhran harshened the relationship between the communists and th e capitalists. At the end of W.W.II American policy towards the Soviets changed drastically. The change in president in 1945 caused relations with Russia to worsen. Furthermore, other political contributions to the Cold War entailed the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan. The division of Europe between the west and east drew physical borders which outlined that the war of misinformation that had began. Also treaties of the post war world further separated the two super powers of the world for the decades to follow. The waging of hot wars through other countries also strengthened Cold War hatred.(1) The first of the cold war tensions arose out of W.W.II conferences between the Soviet Union, America and, Great Britain. Tehran, the first major conference which lead America to start the Cold War, included all three of these nations. At this conference the reshaping of post-war Europe was discussed (2) Later in February of 1945, the big three met again at Yalta. At this conference Eur opean boundaries, German reparations, and Polish elections were agreed upon.(3) Stalin, the Russian leader, agreed to hold free and fair elections. Later after Roosevelt, who attended these conferences, died Truman became president. He accused the Soviet leader, Stalin, of not holding up to his agreements at Yalta.(4) Stalin wanted to use Poland as a buffer zone to prevent any future invasions from happening through this area. During W.W.II the Soviets had lost 27 million, and Stalin made it clear that in no way would he allow this to happen again.

Accounting Made Essay
Managerial Accounting refers to the accumulation and preparation of financial reports for internal users only (e. g. management). Managerial Accounting includes all manipulations of financial information for use by managers in performing their specified organizational functions and additionally in ensuring the proper used and handling of an entityââ¬â¢s resources. ââ¬Å"It is the internal business building role of accounting and finance professionals who work inside organizations. These professionals are involved in designing and evaluating business processes, budgeting and forecasting, implementing and monitoring internal controls and analyzing, synthesizing, and aggregation information ââ¬â to help drive economic valueâ⬠(IMA). Financial Accounting vs. Managerial Accounting Financial Accounting is primarily concerned with the recording of business transactions and the eventual preparation of financial statements. See more: The Issues Concerning Identity Theft Essay Its purpose is to record the transactions carried out by an organization, principally companies with their environment, in order to summarize at regular intervals their financial position and assets, as well as the net profit or loss on operations. Financial accounting focuses on general purpose reports known as financial statements intended for internal and external users and is subject to reporting according to GAAP (e. g. accrual method of accounting). This financial information is generally for the public, as required by law, and consists of a summary of the companyââ¬â¢s past transactions. These all-purpose reports with historical date are prepared for use of different parties and the presentation of the financial statements are done formally, and are still useful even if submitted late. The nature of accounting information is monetary and reports the about the company as a whole. On the other hand, Managerial Accounting is responsible to a lesser degree of financial statement presentations to external users because their reports, which are usually confidential, are primarily for internal purposes or users. Also, it is not subject to reporting according to GAAP (e. g. ash basis). The reports have a strong future orientation, due to the fact that these are used to forecast the companyââ¬â¢s health. These, not being required by law, may also be presented informally and timeliness of report is often more important than precision or accuracy and are for specific users only. The nature of its accounting information is both monetary and non-monetary and reports only parts or segments of the company. Other sources refer to Management Accounting as similar to Cost Accounting. However, Cost Accounting is only a subset of both financial and management accounting. This is because management involves many decisions based upon cost information. Accurate product costs must be determined according to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and according to decision relevance for internal purposes. Accounting Basics Accounting standards are needed so that an establishmentââ¬â¢s financial statements with fairly and consistently describe its financial performance. Without these vital standards, comparisons and evaluations between companies will be quite difficult since financial statements will be based on individual company accounting rules. The activities that are part of managerial accounting include: (a) explaining manufacturing and non-manufacturing costs and how they are reported in the financial statements; (b) computing the cost of rendering a service or manufacturing a product; (c) determining the behavior of costs and expenses as activity levels change and analyzing cost-volume-profit relationships within a company; (d) assisting management in profit planning and formalizing the plans in the form of budgets; (e) providing a basis for controlling costs and expenses by comparing actual results with planned objectives and standard costs; and (f) accumulating and using relevant data for management decision making. Ethical Standards Managerial accountants recognize that they have an ethical obligation to their companies and the public. The IMA has developed a code of ethical standards entitled Standards of Ethical Conduct for Management Accountants. This code divides the managerial accountantââ¬â¢s responsibilities into four aspects: competence, confidentiality, integrity, and objectivity. Competence includes performing duties in accordance with laws, regulations and the like and preparing complete and clear reports and recommendations. Confidentiality refers to refraining from disclosing confidential information and from using or appearing to use confidential information for unethical or illegal advantage. Integrity involves refusing gifts or favors, recognizing and communicating professional limitations, active or passive subversion of the companyââ¬â¢s attainment of objectives, communicating both favorable and unfavorable information, and refraining from activities that would discredit the profession. Lastly, objectivity refers to communicating information fairly and objectively and disclosing fully all relevant information that could influence a decision. Management functions involve performing three broad functions, namely planning, directing and motivating, and controlling. Planning requires the management to look ahead and establish their objectives or goals as a company, keeping in mind that these objectives add value to the business under its control. Directing and motivating involves coordinating diverse activities and human resources to produce a smooth-running operation. Controlling, on the other hand, is the process of keeping the formââ¬â¢s activities on track. In controlling operations, management determines whether planned goals are being met and what changes are necessary when there are deviations from targeted objectives, All these management functions become the foundation for the cause of applying management accounting. To be able to properly account for the success or failure of the business, accounting processes are used and standards are imposed. Ultimately, the purpose or goal is to objectively assess the performance of a corporation to be able to help forecast its future health.

Brock A. Nuckols September 7, 2015 English 120 Wake Up And Smell The Coffee Fifty four percent of Americans wake up daily needing something to get them through the next nine to five, the next class, or even a day of laid-back enjoyment. Averagely spending one dollar and thirty eight cents for this fix, and roughly three hundred to five hundred dollars yearly, this leads one to wonder why this is and if its beneficial? As more than three- quarters of Americans drink coffee, says research from the National Coffee Association, it sustains its stature as one of Americaââ¬â¢s top daily beverage choices next to water. Small Business Marketing Strategy Principles
Question: Discuss about the Small Business Marketing Strategy Principles. Answer: Analysis of segmentation variable Geographic: According to Darrell (2013), it has been seen that majority of the Australian customers prefer the food items of McDonalds. In Australian market, the company has done a business of $4 billion. Darrell (2013) opined that more than 55% of the customers in Australia visited McDonalds in 2014-15. In Australia, it is giving strong competition to the brands such as KFC. The locations are very convenient to the customers and this is one of the primary reasons behind McDonalds success. Demographic: As discussed by Richards et al (2015), in Australia, McDonalds target customers belong to all age groups. The store ambience is made in a way to attract mainly the young people and also to provide comfort to all its customers. However, the urban youth are the target customers. Richards et al (2015) stated that customers visit the retail shop of McDonalds minimum 2.7 times in four weeks. Psychographic: One can see health-consciousness among the Australian people. The products of McDonalds contain excessive amounts of calorie and fat, which the customers do not prefer always. The food quality is the sole reason of its reduction in sales; however, still most of the customers go to the McDonalds relying on its goodwill. According to Maslows Hierarchy of needs, MacDonalds target is to build an intimate relationship with its customers, satisfy their psychological needs and make them happy. Although they failed to provide healthy foods, the brand has retained their business. Benefit and User-rate segmentation: It is a part of behavioral segmentation. By targeting the psychological needs of the customers, the brand has tried to provide a good environment. The product is positioned in the market as a satisfier to their psychological needs with a variety of products too. Most of the customers prefer eating burgers. So the brand has focused on serving delicious burgers to all. McDonalds has established its brand name not only through fast foods but also through its various Corporate Social Responsibilities. The recent annual report has proved this point. Targeting strategy of McDonalds According to Gerhardt et al (2014), target market strategy includes four divisions. These are- Undifferentiated marketing, multi-segment or differentiated marketing, concentrated marketing, and customized marketing. McDonalds target market strategy is an undifferentiated marketing. Gerhardt et al (2014) opined that the company does not segregate its customers in terms of their age, race, gender, or economic condition. Australias fast food market is growing with time. Popularity of KFC along with the McDonalds prove this fact. People of all age groups visit McDonalds to taste burgers, which has made the managers focus on producing delicious burgers. They do not have any specific target customers. Still, the young urban youth prefer McDonalds fast food items. As Gerhardt et al (2014) discussed that sometimes the excessive fat and calorie in the food products give negative results. The primary aim of McDonalds is to ensure a hazard free and user-friendly atmosphere. Low food processing time, nutrition, affordability, and taste are the primary factors, which they keep in mind during their service. McDonald uses only one marketing mix strategy that does includes price, placement, product, and promotion. It is a fast food brand with reputation of producing best burgers in Australia and all customers are influenced to visit the shop quite frequently. Product positioning of McDonalds According to Qureshi and Hassan (2013), product positioning helps the brand to make its mark. McDonalds marketing strategy also does this successfully. McDonald allures the customers not only in Australia but also in other parts of the world. While making the marketing mix strategy the company has given immense focus to establish the brand, therefore, the product positioning is an important part of McDonalds business. Sachdeva (2015) stated that at present, they are focusing on more variety in their products so that they could limit the brand value. As opined by Crawford (2015), the objective is to sustain volatility through increasing the creativity. Again, their focus has not shifted from emphasizing on a particular product that establishes McDonald as a brand. It is the burger that is liked by most of the customers. According to Rowley et al (2016), the Corporate Social Responsibility that they undertake also helped establishing the brand. The SWOT analysis of the brand will make this clear. Strengths: The brand name, new range of products, CSR, and the profits that they gain are their Strengths. Weaknesses: Unhealthy foods, high prices of products and bad after service are the main weaknesses. Opportunity: They can produce healthy food items too besides fast foods. Threats: As discussed by Jaworowska et al (2013), Competitors such as KFC is a threat to McDonalds. Apart from that their high calorie and high fat contained food items are banned in some countries. Conclusion McDonalds marketing strategy is analyzed based on the three factors. These are- Segmentation, Target market, and Positioning. It is called the STP of marketing strategy. McDonalds leads the world business as the largest producers of fast foods across the globe. In Australia, more than half of the country people visit McDonalds stores in fewer intervals. They have introduced new products which are alluring the customers. Still, the brand has established itself as the producer of delicious burgers. However, McDonalds does not segregate its customers and try to serve for all age groups. In some areas of the world, they have customized products for varied range of customers, although in Australia, the burger is sold in large numbers and McDonalds have focused on this item only. Although the products are unhealthy, the customers eat them. The primary reason behind it is the user-friendly environment that satisfies their psychological needs. They provide them good service in a low cost. As they do not have any specific target groups, they do not have multiple pricing systems. It has resulted into a huge amount of profit that they achieved. On the other hand, the SWOT analysis of organization has proved that McDonalds is facing competition from KFC, which is their biggest threat. Other threats and weaknesses of McDonalds include the unhealthy food items because of which it is banned in many countries. References Crawford, A., 2015. McDonald's: A Case Study in Glocalization.
